Summer Student Housing Program (SSHP)

The Summer Student Housing Program (SSHP) begins at the start of summer classes on Tuesday, 5/20 and ends at the close of summer classes on Saturday, 8/16. Housing for the program is in the Flagg Townhouse Apartment Complex.

The residence areas close for the spring semester at 7:00 pm on Monday, 5/12 and open for the fall semester on Monday, 9/1. For a separate fee, we also offer pre- and post- SSHP housing to students who need it before summer classes begin and/or after summer classes end.

Requirements to Live on Campus During the Summer:

  • Must be a matriculated MCLA student, AND
  • Take in-person classes in either Summer Session A and/or B, OR
  • Work a minimum of 20 hours per week for a campus office, OR
  • Work a minimum of 20 hours per week for an internship

What are the dates housing is available:

  • Pre-SSHP Housing: 5/13 - 5/20
  • Session A: 5/21 - 7/3
  • Session B: 7/7 - 8/16
  • Post-SSHP Housing: 8/17 - 9/1

Application Process:

  • The SSHP application will be available in Self-Service THD starting on Monday, 3/24.
  • Complete your SSHP application no later than Friday, 4/25. 
  • On your application, select the reason for living on campus this summer and the dates you need housing.
  • In support of your request, upload a copy of related documentation (ex. class schedule, letter from supervisor confirming employment and/or internship)

NOTE: We are pleased to offer a 25% discount on the above rates to students who are enrolled in a total of six or more class credits or working a minimum of 20 hours in an internship or on-campus job.

IMPORTANT SUMMER STUDENT HOUSING PROGRAM POLICIES:

  • Students can only stay on campus while they are actively taking in-person classes, participating in an internship or working in an on-campus job.
  • Once an application is submitted, cancellations received less than 14 days prior to the specified move-in date will result in a $100 cancellation fee.
  • Withdrawing from the SSHP after move-in will not change the student's responsibility for paying for the full program.
  • Exceptions to cancellation fees are managed by the Residence Life & Housing.
  • Storage for student belongings is not available before or after the Program. A list of local storage facilities is located on the RLH web page.
  • If you require a housing accommodation, please contact the Office of Disability Resources no later than Friday, 4/18.
  • Know that there are only a limited number of private rooms available in the SSHP. Please consider the fact that you may be assigned to a double room with a roommate.
