Due to the FAFSA Simplification Act, there have been major changes to the 2024-2025 FAFSA application. These changes are meant to streamline the process for students and families when applying for financial aid.

Yes! The FAFSA now asks fewer questions. (36 questions instead of 108!)
Additionally, students and families are able to transfer financial information more easily from the IRS to the FAFSA.
In addition to the easier application process, the formula used to determine financial aid eligibility is has changed. Previously known as Expected Family Contribution (EFC), the new formula used is now Student Aid Index (SAI).
While many of the changes regarding this new formula are behind the scenes, SAI will not factor in other family members in college when determining aid.
Schools are not able to access the information on the new FAFSA until mid-March. No financial aid offers can be made until his point.
Offers to prospective students will go out on rolling basis by the end of March. Returning student offers will be available in mid-to-late May.
The Federal Student Aid Estimator provides students and families an estimate of their 2024-2025 federal financial aid using the new Student Aid Index (SAI).
Please note that this is only an estimate and not a guarantee of what you may be eligible for.
If you’re considered a dependent student, you will need need to report information about your parents on the FAFSA.
